Saw it already on /. and cried. It's not something we can do with an XPI style upgrade, either, according to what I've read. So it looks like I need to update all of my images, and he-who-has-not-a-journal should push down the new version through that meditative method...

Perhaps.. The concern is the freshman. Since the machine's are all in a known state during deployment, I wouldn't feel bad about bypassing Mozilla's installer and just making the requisite changes ourselves as part of the deploy process. (Hell, we do that even when we don't have a known state -- a traditional ZEN snAppShot based install just blows through predefined registry settings and files that mimic the original install but with no conditional logic. Of course, we don't do a lot of snAppShot based stuff anymore. Some stuff, I do it for the Supportworks stuff as one example.)

In any event, snAppShot is actually a good way to figure out what the upgrade install does. We can look at the resulting AXT file (the template file that would be used to make an app object, if we were making an app object.) and if it's just "replace these files, and put these one or two registry keys in" we can easily do that in deployment.

If you haven't already seen the snapshot tool, see me tomorrow, and I'll show you how it works...
