It Seemed Like a Scene From the Bible

My parents received a phone call at about 1:30 am last night (12:30 noon local time in Thailand) from my sister. As many of you know, she's been teaching English at a university in Bangkok since she graduated college last May. Bangkok itself wasn't really affected, but as luck would have it, she had some time off and was on one of the affected southern islands spending Christmas with her Thai boyfriend when it hit. Details are still sketchy, as cellular service and international calling in general has been unreliable. It took 24 hours, but she and everyone she was with was successfully evacuated and they are now back in their Bangkok apartment.

As it stands right now, we are still planning to go ahead with our trip out there. Assuming our flight is still good to go, we're leaving on Tuesday morning, back on Jan 7th.

Hopefully, more details to follow.
