incetardis and I resumed our Tuesday nights of TV watching, with a brand new episode of
24 and the season premiere of
The Shield.
redvector and some friends of his even joined us.
Got dragged to Brooklyn after
redvector and co. left to pick get
incetardis's slide scanner from his apartment, so he could do some hi-res slide scanning at
work the next day. He ended up spending the night since he didn't want to deal with the commute the next morning.
Tuesday was also the
Macworld Expo keynote. I didn't skip lunch for the live web cast, but
incetardis,
kingfox, and
caniswolfie did. I saw the second half. The
17 inch PowerBook is a bit excessive, probably very impractical to carry, but I sooo want one.. The
12 inch is probably more up my ally, and within my price range. No, I don't think I'm getting a new Mac anytime soon...
I'm bothered that
Safari is based upon
Konqueror's KHTML engine and not
Gecko. Safari shares the same rendering issues that Konqueror has, seeming to have trouble rendering even very simple web pages here at
drewuniversity correctly that were created in
Dreamweaver. Hell, it can't even get the font size right on
my page. I really like Safari's UI, particularly the awesome new bookmarks organizer that is based upon the library in
iTunes. Still, I've always been a big fan of
Chimera and will probably continue to use that as my Mac browser until they iron out the issues with Safari's render engine. The good news is that at least they will contribute their render engine changes back to the KDE project, and Konqueror will get better as a result.
