Recap of The Blizzard of 2003...
This week was interesting...

I went home for the weekend, but managed to get back to my apartment on Sunday night just as it was starting to get nasty up here. I was expecting to have Monday off at drewuniversity but was not expecting what happened the next day. Sometime around 10:00 while I was taking my shower, the water went out in my apartment. Neither the super, nor the landlord were available, and several hours later, the hot-water heat in my building failed.

We later learned that it had been one of the other tenants in the building who had turned the water off, because a pipe had burst and was causing a flood in the basement. He agreed to turn the water back on for 30 minutes for people to fill up any pitchers or whatever else they had.

Well, OK, the wine isn't from Target, actually it was a gift from runstaverun and kikibird at my last party. The shot glasses aren't from Target either. But anyway...

kingfox came over later, bringing a space heater he stole from acadtech and a digital camera to take the above pictures. We watched the final Joe and ordered from Romanelli's, who was willing to face the wrath of the blizzard and was doing deliveries, unlike the plumbers in the area, who were too afraid to brave the snow to come out and fix my building.

drewuniversity remained closed on Tuesday. Landlord and Super also remained unreachable by any numbers I had for them. However, just as I was planning on calling a plumber myself and deducting the charge from my next month's rent, a plumber sent by the landlord had already arrived on site and was fixing the problem. Apparently, when Il Mondo Vecchio doesn't have water, they have a way of contacting the landlord, but tenants turning into popsicles don't.

The rest of the week was uneventful.

Current Mood: tired tired

Dude... your kitchen table reminds me of an awesome prank I saw somewhere.. I can't remember where, but it might've been ilovebacon.com.. Some guy arranged those 9 ounce paper cups next to each other on his boss's desk like how you have them above, then stapled them all to each other so the whole thing was connected, then got a pitcher and filled each to the brim with water.

I'm still waiting for the opportunity to do that to someone.

You know, water and especially Coke make you need to whiz a lot. So does gin. What did you do when you had to whiz and flushing was not an option?

When it's yellow, it's mellow. When it's brown, flush it down. . .

I think that would be one of the few acceptable situations for someone to... well... pee in the sink.
