Peter Torr's "How can I trust Firefox?" does raise some interesting points.. (Slashdot link)

However, his solution, code signing in IE is just slightly short of ridiculous, considering most user's behavior regarding browser security popups, just clicking OK. There's a serious user education problem here, and the fact is that most people are entirely too trusting with regard to what they are willing to put on their computers, and what information they will disclose to a website. Figure out how to solve this problem first (good luck..) then worry about the trust model exposed through the browser's UI.

That being said, I suppose their are a few things they could do in Firefox. Greying out the "Install Now" button for a few seconds after downloading an extension is a step in the right direction. It would be good to apply that to any executable file download.
